You probably like video games with big stories and great gameplay, but it’s not often that people talk about the funny things that happen by accident. There are a lot of reasons why this could happen, but it’s likely to make you laugh no matter what.
Voice lines are a big source of unintentionally funny moments, but sometimes writers make such strange choices that it’s hard not to laugh at such a bold move. You probably have a few favorite moments, but there are so many others that make people laugh all over the world.
Ragdoll Physics – Tears Of The Kingdom
No matter what game they’re in, ragdoll physics are almost always funny. It’s just funny to see very serious people flounder around as if they’ve lost control of their bodies.
Tears of the Kingdom takes things a step further, and the way the game works in the sky gives ragdolling a whole new meaning. Link falling down a high cliff or spinning around in the sky is always funny, even if you know he’s going to die soon and a sad red X will show up on the screen.
Steve And His Father – Resident Evil: Code Veronica
You won’t believe it, but Resident Evil will be on this list more than once. Code Veronica is a great game that seems to be next on everyone’s list of games to remake. However, Steve Burnside could say some funny things in the original game.
At one point in the story, Steve and Claire are fighting with Steve’s father, who has turned into a zombie. Steve has to decide to kill him, but not before he lets out one of the best screams the Resident Evil series has ever seen.
The Chase – Heavy Rain
Everyone knows about the famous press X to “JASON” moment, but Heavy Rain has a lot of other funny parts that weren’t meant to be funny. One of the best parts is a chase scene with Norman Jayden, who is everyone’s favorite FBI analyst.
There’s a chase that goes from the streets to a grocery store. The scene is fine if you complete all the quick-time events, but it’s one of the funniest things in the world if you don’t. Every time this skilled FBI agent does something wrong, it’s just too funny, especially when chickens come into the picture.
Returning To The Early Areas – Pokemon Scarlet/Violet
You might be thinking what’s so funny about the Pokemon series, since the games aren’t very complicated. You have to think about it for a while, but it’s funny that by the end of the game, you can fight level 4 monsters with gods.
No player would go back to harass Pokemon on purpose, but at some point, everyone will forget to use a repel and meet a baby creature with a maxed-out Koraidon or Miraidon, which will instantly kill it.
Tidus’ Laugh – Final Fantasy 10
Even though a lot of people have misunderstood this scene over the years, you have to admit that Tidus and Yuna’s silly laugh in Final Fantasy 10 made you laugh a little. It’s hard to say exactly what is funny about it.
It could be the force of the laugh, or it could be the way the laugh sounds. Maybe everyone laughs just because of who Tidus is. You can decide who is right or wrong, but try not to laugh too much while you do.
The Endings – Mortal Kombat 4
Some of the ends in Mortal Kombat 4 are normal, but a lot of them are so funny that they’re crazy. For some reason, the figures are always moving around, and the vocal takes are a thing of beauty because they are so over the top.
Even though the actors are right next to each other, they sound like they are miles apart half the time when they talk, and sometimes their lines run into each other. But that doesn’t stop the artists from putting their all into their roles. Some of the ends even make you wonder if the funny parts were meant to be funny or not.

This Call of Duty story moment has a lot to say about it. Even though it was probably meant to put you in the shoes of your character, the moment has been seen as both funny and a little bit rude.
When a video game tells you to push a button to pay your respects at a funeral, it’s hard not to laugh at how silly it is. It was so funny by accident that the whole thing turned into a big joke that some people still use today.

You don’t have to pick just one time when Barry Burton is on screen in the first Resident Evil. You can point to all of them. This famous performance of a character is well-known, which is why it has become so loved.

This is one of the best accidentally funny moments in gaming that doesn’t get enough attention. If you didn’t play the Mortal Kombat side games, you probably didn’t see this amazing moment with Kung Lao, a monk, and Baraka.
Baraka Mortal Kombat-style stabs a monk through the head and then throws him to the ground in front of Kung Lao. The strong fighter can only bend down and ask the monk if he’s okay, but it’s probably a safe bet that the monk wasn’t okay.
The Entire Game – Oblivion
Saying that everything in Oblivion is funny is not a knock on the game. In fact, Wordle Unlimited is amazing and has a funny story. The problem is that every line of NPC conversation is said in a way that makes you think of udder magic, which is how wizard-cows talk.
If you thought the “arrow to the knee” meme was too much, you’ll be surprised to hear that memes based on NPC speech from the game Oblivion are still going strong. There’s some funny old game junk that happens in big games, but that’s nothing compared to when you’re stuck in a chat or walking by a character who likes to talk.
